Refunding payments using a Webform

You can use the Webform bank transfer method to make refunds to your shoppers.

A Webform bank transfer refund is filled in by your shopper, not by you. It puts the shopper in control of the refund, and they know it has been submitted because they submit it. It is a very secure method, and also it doesn't time out, so the shopper has time to locate bank details.

How to begin using webform refunds

You begin this process by creating the Shopper Webform Bank Transfer Refund request. This in turn creates a unique refund web link (Webform URL) and its associated refund ID, which you email to your shopper.

The shopper then selects the link and is automatically re-directed to a Webform refund page. The shopper uses this refund page to enter the unique refund ID that you provided. Once the system recognises the refund ID, a bank transfer page appears to the shopper. The shopper completes the bank transfer page with their bank account details and sends it off to Worldpay who oversee the rest of the refund process.

For further details of using webforms, see the Bank Transfer Refunds section of the Refunding Payments Guide.

The shopper requires the Webform URL and the Refund ID to complete the Shopper Webform Bank Transfer Refund request. Always email these separately to the shopper in two emails.
