A Direct Debit is an alternative payment method that directly debits a consumer's account via the Automatic Clearing House (ACH) network in the US or the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) service in Canada. From a merchant’s standpoint offering Direct Debit as a payment method has several advantages, including a large consumer base in excess of 130 million accounts in the United States and no interchange fees.
